He perfected Aakash Ganga ( River from Sky in Hindi) to provide safe drinking water and Arogya (Disease Free in Hindi) to deliver health care  to vulnerable people. These programs have won wide acclaim for social innovations, social enterprises, and systemic sustainability. He was recognized as CNN’s 2015 Top Ten Hero. He is the recipient of the 2012 Purpose Prize award; 2010 Lemelson – Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sustainability award; 2010 Energy Globe World award, and 2006, 2007 World Bank Development Marketplace awards (twice) for self-sustainable social enterprises. He was invited by the 2011 World Economic Forum to share the social enterprise model with 30 heads of state. At Government of India’s invitation, he organized sessions on systemically sustainable model at the 2012 Bharatiya Pravasi Divas (Indian Diaspora Convention).  

For 30+ years, he spearheaded innovations at corporations and entrepreneurial ventures bringing patented technologies to market. He founded Information Gateways for computer telephony integration and IU Bitnet for health informatics. During his corporate stint, he patented several inventions in telecommunications and very-large-scale integration chips. He was an Associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and signal Processing and Guest Editor of IEEE Transactions on Communications.

Dr. Agrawal is a frequent speaker on fostering social enterprises, systemic sustainability, and on People, Culture and Innovations. Dr. Agrawal serves on the Advisory Board of the Lemelson Center for innovation, inventiveness and creativity at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC. He is an alumnus of University of South Florida (USA), Birla Institute of Technology and Science (India), and Executive Program of Sloan School, MIT (USA).
