Gordon Mowat, Strategy Advisor, Coach & Mentor at iEducate

About

I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland, with a BSc in Natural Philosophy (Physics) from Glasgow University.      I was with Schlumberger Oilfield Services for more than 3 decades, working and living with my family in Montélimar and in Paris, France; Lavan Island, Bushehr, Ahwaz, and Shiraz, Iran; Ahmadi, Kuwait; Abu Dhabi, UAE; Caracas, Venezuela; San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago; Jakarta, Indonesia; Ridgefield CT and Houston TX USA.       Thereafter I was one of two founding partners in the buyout of a classic British blue water sailboat brand, outsourcing manufacturing, first to Xinhui, Guangdong, China, then to Celje, Slovenia.    Since then I have conducted many consulting projects in Oil & Gas and in Mining industries, mostly in business strategy, product/service introduction and pricing, and investment advisory roles.    More recently, I am a strategy advisor to several technology & oil & gas startups, and strategy advisor and pro bono executive coach & mentor to the CEO and management team of a rapidly-growing educational not-for-profit in elementary education in public Independent School districts.    For recreation, I enjoy blue water sailing, I have cruised the west of Scotland, Long Island Sound, Whitsunday Islands in Queensland Australia, and especially for many years the Leeward & Windward Islands in SE Caribbean. I also enjoy downhill skiing, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking, running/walking/biking with the Hash house Harriers world-wide (dis)organization, symphony, opera, dancing… One of my passions is fine home cuisine.    I split my year between Houston TX, Redwood City CA, Concord MA, and Le Lavandou, France.

In all my commercial activities as well as in my recreational activities, water issues have always been close to the heart of what I do. And spending so much of my time on and in the oceans constantly reminds me of the obligation we all have to preserve these wonderful and constantly endangered planetary resources.
