Recently he has also investigated the role of global warming on aquatic systems and looked at strategies for sustaining functionality of aquatic systems in a changing world.  He started, this research focus, immediately after his Post Doc experience at CALTECH, when he returned to UWA where founded the Centre for Water Research and where he started the first environmental undergraduate engineering course.
