About

I am a qualified and experienced Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) specialist, Program Manager and a Leader with over 20 years working experience with both the private sector and humanitarian organizations. I am a Graduate member of the Chartered institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) -UK, a member of Engineers Australia (EA) and a member of the International Water Association (IWA). I have also undertaken many management, leadership, and other technical trainings. I have developed and managed multi-sectoral programs (WASH, Health, Nutrition, Peace building, Protection, Livelihoods, and food Security) in the last 9 years.

I am seasoned and tested professional and Leader who has risen from being a junior field staff as a Water and Sanitation Technician to senior positions such as Country Director, Deputy Director for Emergencies, Emergency Team Leader, Program Coordinator, WASH Technical Advisor, Senior Environmental Health (WASH) Coordinator, WASH Program Coordinator and WASH Program Manager. I have experience in coordination, networking, managing donor relations, fundraising, safety and security management, people management and representation.

I have lived and worked in various Countries in Horn, East and Central Africa region, North Africa region, West Africa region, Central Africa and the Middle East. Hence, I have extensive knowledge and experience in working in complex emergencies and development contexts. I have been involved in some of the large-scale emergencies such as displacements, flood, drought, and disease outbreaks (Cholera in Uganda, Ebola in Sierra Leone and DRC and COVID-19).  Notably, I developed the Sector Toolkit for Emergency programs for WASH in Health facilities for the IRC and I also contributed to the development of emergency response toolkits for Ebola, Cholera and COVID-19. I have worked with some of the key humanitarian organizations namely, IRC, Oxfam GB, Concern Worldwide and CARE USA.

I have in-depth knowledge and experience in project cycle management ranging from needs assessment, strategy development, program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. I am conversant with some of the strategic approaches in programing such as integration, Client responsiveness, accountability, Monitoring for action, Theory of change etc. I am passionate about research and capacity building hence I have written many technical briefs and training guidelines in my career as a WASH expert.

I have managed and developed teams of 5-120 Staff effectively and have experience in creating result oriented, motivated, and hardworking teams. I also have experience in managing team dynamics and creating a healthy working environment for high performance. My Colleagues consider me a trustworthy, calm, humble, diplomatic, responsible, and approachable person hence easy to work with. My career aspiration is to always undertake more challenging roles which I believe will in future make me a seasoned professional and Leader. I am result oriented, organized and I like being innovative in my career and that’s why I have often been able to pilot new approaches, undertake research and design appropriate projects.
