Because TheWaterNetwork is now so large and active, we have attracted, unfortunately, a lot of spammers. The Network is free and open for all to join. Up until this time we have not added a "request to join" to make joining easy.
This is creating spam and extra work on the part of our editors to delete the spam accounts now on average 10 a day.
We are considering to change the registration process to require new members to request to join, they will then have to be approved by a moderator.
Your comments/suggestions welcome!
In the meantime if you see a spam account, please report it by making a comment here with the link to the account.
Your patience and understanding on this matter is much appreciated!

Good morning,
I would have an idea on how to reduce the risk of "ghost" or "spam" accounts.
It would be enough to provide in the User Agreement a field where the new member would be required to fill in his data and allow through solving a Captcha the access.
An eventual "bot" account cannot do all this and therefore its undesirable actions would be prevented from the beginning.
I hope more good ideas can come here from other users!
Good work everyone and congratulations!

Thank you for your suggestion. None of the spam accounts are able to be created by Bots- all the spammers are humans creating these accounts with valid, mostly gmail emails.
