A ClariWash filtration system supplying Kagando hospital and community in West Uganda with fresh drinking water. The hospital has a population of over 2,000 persons. Contaminated water being consumed in the area has resulted in cases of typhoid. This will be improved with the new purified water. The system is self washing needing no power supply, control system or operator intervention to backwash. It has no moving parts or need for replacement parts. It is therefore ideal for remote communities in developing countries. The process provides a multiple barrier to contaminants comprising aeration, clarification, dual media filtration and disinfection. Flow rate is 6000 litres/hour.
