Day 2 of the California Lake Management Society 2021 Annual Conference focused on updates from the California State Water Resources Control Board on statewide monitoring efforts for cyanobacteria, harmful algal blooms, and contaminants in fish. First, Marisa Van Dyke (State Water Resources Control Board) discusses the California Cyanobacteria and Harmful Algal Bloom Network to identify and address HABs in California's freshwater ecosystems. Next, Dr. Jay Davis (San Francisco Estuary Institute) discusses SWRCB's Safe to Eat Workgroup, which exists to assess the impacts of contaminants in fish and shellfish on beneficial uses in California water bodies through statewide monitoring under SWAMP and perform syntheses of information from these statewide monitoring efforts and other studies.
