A one day workshop (ideaLAB) is being held in Manchester on the  22nd January  at the glamorous ETC. conference venue 11 Portland St,  Manchester  M1 3HU  The event will see the launch of an open and collaborative innovation programme sponsored by Siemens exploring opportunities to increase effective and actionable water quality intelligence given developments in IoT.    The event is attracting a diverse community of utilities, sensor vendors, intelligence system experts, academics and inventors.  Siemens are offering to sponsor seven collaborative innovation projects in UK water utilities over 18 months from January 2019.      The event is  free to attend  and provides a collaborative environment through which to define needs and priority opportunities for change, unpack the challenges of implementation and explore what the future direction of the industry might be regarding Water Quality as a Service.  The key outputs sought are to practically define priority use cases for scaling automated intelligence in WQ and to define the key barriers and challenges to change.  Siemens will focus on co-investing in projects that reduce barriers such as:·Changes to the operational relationship between WQ community and intelligence infrastructure in utilities. ·The practical impacts of new sensor and intelligent networks on operations and costs. ·Restricted availability of practical low cost, low maintenance/ solid state, long battery life sensors. ·Identifying key business use cases where topical intelligence could substantially mitigate risk/ or offer opportunity for better performance.    Reasons to attend:·We are inviting topical speakers to help frame interests and challenges. ·We are inviting a 'broader than usual' network of scientific and technology vendors including experts from adjacent industries and other utilities. ·There will be a diverse range of interests in the room, from Utility management to network, sensor and analytics specialists. ·The event is supported by SWIG with topical expertise. ·We are introducing collaborative opportunities and launching a new sponsorship programme to overcome challenges and accelerate change. ·Participation is free as this is an innovation event and there are different ways to get involved.   Please register your interest in attending as places are limited .  You can find out more about the Siemens innovation sponsorship programme and the Water Quality intelligence challenge here.  If you are interested in this, or simply would like to find out more about the event, please contact us directly on 0191 313 0009 or by email to peter@addstrategy.co.uk
