I have recently published a book entitled: "Particles deposition onto membrane feed channels". I would like to share this with all of the scientists in this network, working with membranes, especially the ones interested in the "battle" against fouling. You can find it on line (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Particle-Deposition-Membranes-Feed-Channels/dp/3659815136). It is a collection of all the experiments and theoretical models I did during my Master's thesis, carried out at Univerities of Twente and TU Delft (NL) The study aimed to study the dynamics of particle deposition in membrane feed channels, under cross-flow conditions. The project has been divided in two parts: The first part has been carried out at the University of Twente, Faculty of Science and Technology within the SFI (Soft matters, Fluidics and Interfaces,) group, under the supervision of Prof. Rob Lammertink, and aimed to fabricate and characterize a new membrane concept with integrated microstructures in order to mimic the nodes of net shaped spacers. Photolithography had been used to produce membranes’ patterns negatives. The second part of this thesis has been performed at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Faculty of Applied Sciences within the EBT (Environmental Biotechnology) group, under the supervision of Prof. Cristian Picioreanu and the co-supervision of Prof. Hans Vrouwenvelder. The objective was to visually characterize particle deposition on membranes with integrated structures and on commercial membranes and spacers, under cross flow condition. Further on, an attempt to describe the experimental results with a three-dimensional numerical simulation was made in order to explain the main factors governing particle attachment. It will be my pleasure to share ideas and have discussion with all of you intersted on this topic. Thanks!
