The challenge is underway approaching the submission deadline on May 4th 2020, but there is still time for you to enter.
Engineering for Change and Siemens USA are challenging innovators to design technology that helps provide clean water globally. The challenge has two tracks. One of the tracks is:
Clean Water (SDG 6): Design low-cost, energy-efficient, scalable technology for desalinating brackish water.
Let's use this downtime under orders to stay home and do something that matters. Engineering professionals and students are uniquely qualified to solve problems in water treatment. In turn, this solution can soften the impact of emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic. This is one thing we can do.
The challenge was developed before COVID-19 escalated, but the solutions it calls for can support isolated communities and reduce the spread of future diseases. This is a step we can take now.
Two winning teams will receive (USD) $10,000 each and meet with Barbara Humpton, CEO of Siemens USA.
Siemens USA has made its Solid Edge 3D CAD software freely available to participants in the challenge, and for use in future projects. Use this opportunity to sharpen your CAD skills while improving lives in underserved communities.
If you don’t have a solution in mind, no problem. Register now and join a team to help develop their ideas.
