Scroll forward 90 years, Ford and Chrysler, Cargill, Dow and Monsanto, Southern Pacific and Del Webb focused on economics, while naturalists measured diminishing landscape resiliency. The Native Americans had warred with each other for centuries, and "natural causes" kept nature essentially stable and slowly evolving, but they did not manage to wipe out all the great buffalo herds, utterlu muck up many pedator-prey relationships in balance, pollute rivers, destroy grasslands, plant everything, or pave it, ruining irreparable watershed function. All this anglo-exceptionalism is getting a bit old, don't you think? This is another fluff piece by Kossan, and deserves to be corrected for balance.
