H2O Innovation Awarded Three Water-treatment Contracts

Quebec City-based water-treatment-plant specialist H2O Innovation has announced that it has signed two new contracts for work in Canada and one in the United States, in addition to reporting on the completion of its largest ultrafiltration (UF) project ever, in Colorado

The first project has been awarded to the company by Englishman River Water Service and consists of the design, manufacture and commissioning of a two-stage UF system with a total of five trains to treat water from the Englishman River in British Columbia. Once completed, the system will produce 4.2 MGD (million gallons per day, or 16,000 m3/day) of potable water for the City of Parksville, B.C.

The second award is for pre-selection for supply of a new six-trains UF system to treat tertiary effluent from the Valencia Water Reclamation Plant of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. This system will produce up to 10.3 MGD of water to be reused in agricultural applications.

The third contract awarded is for the design, manufacture and commissioning of a wastewater-treatment system for Lower Fort Garry in Manitoba. This system will use the biological Bio-Wheel process to treat municipal wastewater and provide nutrient removal, processing 7,925 to 15,850 gal/day of wastewater.

The three contracts were announced Jan. 6. On Jan. 19, the firm reported that it has wrapped up a major UF project, a design-build project rated to produce 12 MGD of potable water with feed water from the Colorado River and the Grand Valley Canal, for the Clifton Water District in Colorado.

The project uses FiberFlex technology, introduced by H2O Innovation 24 months ago, according to a media statement, and now in use in, or being designed for, 15 projects in total so far, totalling over 55 MGD of capacity.

The Clifton project was a retrofit into an existing plant and so plant construction had to be scheduled within an operating facility to coincide with the low-flow winter months. The project was executed from purchase order to commissioning in less than a year.

H2O Innovation designs and builds custom-built, integrated water-treatment solutions based on membrane-filtration technology for municipal, energy and natural resources end-users.
