Liontrust has launched a water and agriculture equity fund to take advantage of “the structural changes” in the sectors
The GF Global Water and Agriculture fund is n high conviction global equity fund and will be managed by Hugo Rogers and Kristof Bulkai, who have been investing in the sector since 2008.
The fund is expected to have a low turnover of stocks of 25 per cent with a concentrated portfolio of 30 to 40 holdings.
Rogers says the fund will invest in companies providing products or services in water and waste-water treatment, clean industrial technology, agriculture and infrastructure industries.
He says: “The fund aims to exploit opportunities driven by change in these sectors because market participants, including investors, are slow and reluctant to understand changes.
“This fund also focuses on long-term investments to be found in companies and that is why equities are the best asset classes to use.”
The fund has charges of 1.5 per cent and a minimum investment of £1,000.
Liontrust is also launching a UK Micro Cap fund in March this year.
The fund will be managed by Anthony Cross, Victoria Bates and Matthew Tonge from the firm’s Economic Advantage team.
The fund, which will be made of 40 to 60 holdings, will invest in UK headquartered companies with a market capitalisation of less than £150m.
