A Sacyr-led consortium has won a contract to build a desalination plant in Oman for more than US$1.2bn.

Sacyr subsidiary Valoriza Agua has entered the Oman market with the award of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant in Sohar on the Batinah coast. Some 250,000m3 of seawater will be treated every day.

Oman Power & Water Procurement Company awarded the contract to a consortium of Valoriza Water (51%) with Oman Brunei Investment Company (25%) and Sogex Oman (24%).
