With an investment of R$3,1 billion and the capacity to produce 1 m³ of water per second, the largest desalination plant in the Northeast will guarantee water supply to 2 million people and transform Fortaleza into a national reference in water technology.

The Fortaleza desalination plant is being designed and engineered by IDE Water Technologies.

IDE Water Technologies is an Israeli company specializing in the development, engineering, construction, and operation of large-scale thermal and membrane desalination facilities globally.

The project is a public-private partnership (PPP) led by the Águas de Fortaleza consortium, which is composed of the following primary partners:

Marquise Infraestrutura (lead infrastructure firm)
CAGECE (Ceará Water and Sewage Company, the state utility)

The consortium is responsible for the overall construction, operation, and maintenance of the plant, while IDE Technologies is specifically providing the design, engineering, and supply of the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination technology and equipment.
