From Lab to Commercialization: Removing Barriers to Marine Energy Testing
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) is working to advance the development of reliable, cost-competitive marine energy technologies. They’re making it faster, easier, and more cost effective for companies to take next steps to deploy their devices—while abiding by marine regulatory protections and standards.

Permits and regulations are essential; they exist to help protect our oceans and rivers along with their wildlife and ecosystems. So, WPTO partners with organizations that can accelerate marine energy research and development or help establish and maintain pre-permitted testing locations.
