IAHR awards the first IAHR Label for Water Training and Education to the Master's program in "Management of Hydrotechnological and Environmental Projects" (HYDROPROTECH) 

The IAHR Label for Water Training and Education label is awarded jointly by IAHR and UNESCO under the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (IHP) to  institutions promoting and implementing excellence in training and education programs for competent and skillful professionals in the water sector.  This distinction highlights the commitment of IAHR and UNESCO-IPH to educational excellence, fostering innovative and sustainable solutions to address global water challenges.

 Program Objectives

The HYDROPROTECH Master's program aims to provide students with advanced skills in project management within the hydrotechnological and environmental sectors. Graduates will be able to:

• Design and implement hydrotechnological projects involving water resource management, wastewater treatment, and hydraulic infrastructure.

• Evaluate the environmental impacts of projects, considering environmental regulations and sustainability issues.

• Use modeling and simulation tools for the analysis and management of hydrological and hydraulic systems.

• Manage risks associated with hydrotechnological projects, including technical, financial, and environmental aspects.

Educational Content

The program spans two years and combines theoretical and practical training:

• Theoretical courses covering disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnics, water resource management, hydrological and hydraulic modeling, and environmental regulations.

• Practical work (on the field, on laboratory hydraulic chanel and on computational equipment) and projects allowing students to apply the knowledge acquired to real-world cases and projects.

• Internships or apprenticeship in companies or public organizations, offering professional immersion and essential practical experience.

• Two possible academic journeys are offered to students during the master program:

  • The traditional academic journey (full time at the university internships in to be conducted during the second semester and fourth semester of the first and second year of the master program)

  • Apprenticeship academic journey (alternating between academic studies and professional work experience in a company every other month).

Both paths allow combing theoretical learning at a university with practical, hands-on experience in the workplace.
