The effects of the river restoration on the surface water quality
Published on by Ruth Garcia de la Calle, CL:AIRE - Knowledge transfer and outreach manager
It is vital to understand the effects that restoration of rivers can have on the surface and groundwater quality as this can clear some misconceptions that the public and practitioners have. In the Thur river, there are no reservoirs upstream of the restored site and spring floods are common due to snow melt water, this makes the restored site more important as a flood protection measure.
Vidhya ChittoorViswanathan, fellow for ADVOCATE Network, shows us the importance of the river restoration in this videoat EAWAG in Zurich, Switzerland.
