Northumbrian Water on the World's Most Ethical Company List

Northumbrian Water Group has been included on the World’s Most Ethical Company list compiled by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

The firm has made it onto the list - which measures ethical programmes within companies, their corporate and social responsibility and the importance company leaders place on business ethics - for the seventh year running.

Only 124 companies around the world, and just four from the UK, have made the list, with Northumbrian Water taking its place alongside the likes of Marks and Spencer, Kelloggs, Volvo and Microsoft.

The accolade honours companies that recognise their role in society to influence and drive positive change, consider the impact of their actions on their employees, customers and community and use their values and culture on which to underpin the decisions they make every day.

Northumbrian Water chief executive Heidi Mottram said: “Being recognised as a global leader is a significant honour and one we are immensely proud of. Our service touches the entire community and this award is a testament to everyone in our organisation who delivers that service in an ethical way, every day.

“We take our commitment to the environment extremely seriously and invest in ensuring we minimise the impact of our activities and deliver sustained support to our communities. Last year alone we supported over 1,200 organisations through volunteering and other activities.

“The public put their trust and confidence in us to be a good corporate citizen and to protect our precious resources for future generations. This is a privilege and one we will continue to fulfil.”

The designation is said to recognise those who “align principle with action, work tirelessly to make trust part of their corporate DNA, and in doing so, shape future industry standards by introducing tomorrow’s best practices today”.
