Singapore Water Supply Costs Rocketed

Singapore's National Water Agency (PUB) reported that the operational costs of Singapore’s water supply system have hugely increased from $500 million in 2000 to $1.3 billion in 2015.
PUB claims this is because the price in resources and development are rising.
Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat announced the 30% increase in water price during his Budget speech.
Other participants at the Budget forum inquired about alternative ways of conservation and reducing costs by maybe penalizing those who consume more water than average.
Senior Minister of State for Finance Indranee Rajah declared this increase in price is to ensure Singapore has a continued supply of water.
