Dow Water & Process Solutions, was conferred a Silver Special Recognition Award by R&D Magazine for bringing a sustainable innovation to the home appliance industry

The Dow Chemical Company’s business unit, Dow Water & Process Solutions, was conferred a Silver Special Recognition Award by R&D Magazine for bringing a sustainable innovation to the home appliance industry. The unit won the award in the Special Recognition Green Tech category for its outstanding filtration performance, addressing water scarcity issues.

The Dow business unit was honored for the application of its Purinze Ultrafiltration (UF) Technology in Haier Group's Casarte eco-friendly washing machine. The Purinze UF Technology helps in removing about 99% of the common bacteria while improving the quality of water and reduces water consumption by about 30%. The Purinze UF module runs continuously during washing and allows water molecules to pass through while blocking bacteria and mites as well as other dirt and contaminants from the water.
The Green Tech Special Recognition Awards have been separately established by R&D Magazine to honor innovations that enable the society reduce its footprint by increasing efficiency and lowering energy consumption.

Dow, last month, released its third-quarter 2015 results. The company continued its positive earnings surprise streak with a solid beat in the third quarter and saw a healthy jump in its profits, helped by strong margins in its performance plastics business and lower raw material costs. The bottom line was also boosted by a sizable gain from the sale of its AgroFresh specialty chemical business.

Adjusted earnings for the quarter outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate. However, the company’s sales fell by double digits and trailed expectations, hurt by currency headwinds and unfavorable pricing impact.

Dow’s shares rose around 2.9% to close at $53.16 yesterday.
Dow is a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) stock.
