A year after dams removal on Kogilnik, Kagach and Sarata rivers

A year ago 10 dams and obstacles were removed on the Kogilnik, Kagach and Sarata Rivers on the territory of the Danube Biosphere Reserve (DBR) in Ukraine.
Though 2020 was a very dry year, the removal of the dams has revitalized the rivers, restoring natural processes, supporting the comeback of wild nature, and will hopefully underpin the development of local nature-based economies.
