Axial Flow Pumps can Reduce Energy Use and Costs for Low-lift Surface Water Irrigation in Bangladesh

In a South-South learning vein, CIMMYT has brought the SE Asian axial flow pumps to test and test market in South Asia.
In Bangladesh currently over 1500 have been imported/sold. AFPs can lift nearly twice as much water-usually from surface sources- at heads below 3 meters bringing substantial energy and costs savings to rice, maize and wheat farmers there.
