Seven Historical Milestone that shaped the Development of Water and Related Research
Published on by Mrinmoy Majumder, Associate Professor at National Institute of Technology Agartala in Academic
The Flint water crisis, California drought, and the Exxon Valdez oil spill have all impacted the water world in the last 200 years. These crises highlighted the importance of preventative measures in managing water supplies and handling emergencies. The history of water resources has been influenced by seven turning points, including the quest for pure water, the discovery of water's composition, the first hydropower plant, the Resources for the Future program, water pollution from the Industrial Revolution, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and the establishment of the Journal of Water History. The future of water resources research will be shaped by the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, and ICT in water resources development. The evolution of these technologies will determine the future of water resources research.
