When the locals are forbidden to monitor privately leased land by absentee landlords and off-site managers, the community is left with a mess and future generations lose their resources forever. Native people and communities stay for centuries. Corporations walk away after years of claiming property rights, extracting and depleting precious resources, and excluding those people best served and at risk.
