The city of Isfahan with an area of 220 km2 square kilometers and a population of about 3 million people is located in central Iran. Zayandehrud River, which is 490 km long, which originates from the Central Zagros Mountains and passes through the center of this city, finally flows into Gavkhouni Wetland (with an area of 476 square kilometers) in the east of Isfahan. This wetland is the tributary of Zayandehrud river, these two play an important role in the sustainability of the earth, the ecology of creatures and humans in this city.
Irregular withdrawals from wells, reduced rainfall and high evaporation, mining, tunneling, improper agricultural practices and drying of the Zayandehrud River and Gavkhouni Wetland, etc. have caused land subsidence in this city. As its average reaches 15 cm per year, in other words, 10% of the area of this province, which is about 10 thousand square kilometers, suffers from subsidence. Subsidence is called latent earthquake.
Solutions to eliminate land subsidence, increase rainfall, eliminate dust and dust hotspots, eliminate drought and water stress, rehabilitate Zayandehrud river and Gavkhouni wetland, prevent evaporation of rivers, lakes and dams and correct the cultivation pattern in This city was presented.
