- CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - for the session: “Advances and Challenges in Channel Evolution and Bank Erosion Research”SSS2.2/GM8.11/HS11.49Convener:László BERTALAN (Hungary) Co-conveners:Saleh YOUSEFI (Iran), Amy E. EAST (USA), Emmanuèle GAUTIER (France), Nicola SURIAN (Italy), Saskia KEESSTRA (The Netherlands) The main goal of this session is to bring together scholars conducting innovative research. Therefore, worldwide contributions are appreciated with a particular focus on fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, geology, and river engineering, dealing with the following topics:· Variation of bank-erosion processes in different geomorphic zones and scales (mountains, pediment surfaces, alluvial plains, delta regions).· Natural and anthropogenic factors controlling bank erosion and river-planform evolution (the roles of climate, hydrodynamics, bank material, sediment supply, floodplain land-use change, river engineering, etc.).· Applied methodologies in advanced bank erosion monitoring (applications of GIS, remote sensing and novel ‘structure-from-motion’ point-cloud generation technology complementary to geodetic approaches i.e. TLS, LiDAR, RTK, total station).· Accurate prediction? Certainties vs. Uncertainties in bank erosion and river channel migration modelling approaches.· Bank retreat: a Threat or an Opportunity?· Socio-economic effects of channel movements.· The relationship between channel movement and biodiversity. All the detailed information related to this session can be found in this link:http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2018/session/26996The deadline for the receipt of abstracts is 10 Jan 2018, 13:00 CET.We are looking forward to receiving your abstracts and thank you very much for your cooperation. In case any questions arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.
