While speaking at the "ECONOMIC COOPERATION DIALOGUE IN EASTERN SOUTH ASIA", at Shillong, Meghalaya on 25th - 26th, April 2016, Dr. Arvind Kumar highlighted the question – “Is mere infrastructural connectivity sufficient for regional economic integration and development in Eastern South Asia?” He pointed that that Eastern South Asia is one of the fastest growing economic regions, as per recent reports of the IMF and other organisations. There are abundant natural resources in this region but a lack of inter country synergy in policy measures is required to harness this potential. For example the Government of Meghalaya’s initiative of Border Haats, has received good response all round from other countries as well, so there is great possibility for building on this experience.
