$440,000 to Hudson River Water Protection Projects

New York has awarded more than $440,000 in grants for 10 projects to help communities protect water quality and habitats in the Hudson River watershed.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says they’ll support the 150-mile estuary from Troy to New York Harbor.

Rensselaer Land Trust will get $50,000 to recruit and train citizens to collect water samples and test for certain bacteria.

Riverkeeper will get $50,000 to support its community science water in several upstate counties monitoring for fecal indicator bacteria and develop protocols to monitor algae and nutrients.
