Netherlands' New Nationwide App with Current Waterway Information
Published on by Water Network Research, Official research team of The Water Network in Technology
RiverGuide is an app for waterway users, providing current information about routes, berth occupation, drinking water points and car landing berths, among other things.
The purpose of the application is to promote safety, traffic regulation, smoothness and sustainability on the national waterways.
The participating parties are Zeeland Seaports, Rijkswaterstaat (the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management), the Province of South Holland, the Province of North Holland, the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the Port of Moerdijk, the Port of Amsterdam, Groningen Seaports and Teqplay, the company which developed the app.
RiverGuide aggregates the data available from the various waterway administrators and other involved parties. The app uses the resulting combination to put together relevant nautical information for waterway users. The RiverGuide app has been developed for and with inland shippers. The shippers’ needs have been mapped out and incorporated in the app.
The app will be expanded further in the coming months.
Applying for the RiverGuide app can be done at www.riverguide.eu.
Mobile phone users can download the app free of charge.
