Rep. Crawford wants to flush out water system cyberattacks
As cyber technology continues to rise, foreign hackers are targeting water treatment plants.

Some states have already fallen victim to the crime, like the hacker who tried to change the amount of chemicals going through a Florida water treatment plant in 2021.

Now, U.S. Representative Rick Crawford has introduced legislation that could help prevent these water system cyberattacks.

“It’s become more of a risk, and we’re seeing more attacks coming toward water systems, so whatever can be done, we’re all for that,” Doug Shackelford with Central Arkansas Water told our content partner KNWA-TV.

Crawford introduced H.R. 7922, the Water Risk and Resilience Organization Establishment Act, to help combat the attacks.
