IDE meets growing water demands for tourism with environmentally-friendly desalination
IDE Technologies, a world leader in providing world-class desalination and water treatment solutions, has been a provider of desalination plants for more than 50 years in the Canary Islands and recently supplied a chemical-free SWRO solution to Aguas De Arguineguín. The plant has a capacity of 1,000 m3/day and utilizes IDE PROGREEN which delivers affordable, clean water without the use of chemicals and with reduced energy consumption. The plant supplies drinking water to the local population, including tourism businesses, to meet increasing demands.
“IDE PROGREEN is the ideal plug and play solution for challenging locations such as islands, as it is cost-effective and easy to maintain on an ongoing basis,” said Guy Sagie, CEO of IDE Projects. “We are pleased to bring our unique, chemical-free solution to the Aguas De Arguineguín and continue our long-standing commitment to innovation. This plant was fully-customizable to meet the needs of the growing population.”
Arguineguín is a picturesque tourist location on the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria, the largest island in the Canary Islands archipelago. The existing desalination plant was built 36 years ago and with growing tourism, a more extensive solution was required. IDE was awarded the project in late 2017, which included production and distribution.
