Journey to Ignite
Thazhingi and Kodanthur Porpaarai tribal villages with around 41 and 120 families rests in the Magnificent Western Ghats. It falls under Amaravathi forest Range in Tiruppur district of Tamilnadu. It was hard for us to reach the villages as we had to walk 3-6 Km from the road that connects it with the rest of world. But the sounds of birds and cool breeze accompanied us. Though I like the scenery, My leg walked faster to bring brightness in the life of those families.
Lack of Electricity and Transport facilities has many socio-economic implications such as poor literacy rate, unemployment of youths, poor health care. In the same way, People's dependence on firewood has lead to human-animal conflict while firewood collection and also lead to environmental degradation. Upon electrification, It can save 206 tonnes of wood annually.
