As data storage and cloud computing are becoming more important, this research is timely:

Facebook and ebay have taken first steps to report what is called 'water use effectiveness' (as defined by the green grid in a white paper: http://www.thegreengrid.org/en/Global/Content/white-papers/WUE)

I am working these days in Asia with industries to help them manage their water strategies. I dont have data to share but can share this happening and encouraging new that Tata Group breaks ground with industrial water footprint, and they are doing very good work.
