Waterwise, a UK based NGO has some interesting things to say about the topic. Much of what they say I'm positive holds true for many other developed economies too...
"The UK water industry accounts for around1% of UK CO2 emissions.
However, the main link between water and energy is something we experience on a personal level every day, yet it is the link that is least recognised by policy makers.
