Abstract
The SBR technology is a modification of the conventional active sludge procedure based on the batch bio-reactor filling principle. The total required volume of the SBR reactor with the second level of treatment can be reduced using a pre-sedimentation tank in front of the SBR device as the first level of purification, which is especially pronounced in higher-capacity treatment devices preceded by a separate drainage system. Construction of pre-sedimentation tanks before the SBR reactors results in a lower consumption of oxygen compared to SBR devices not equipped with pre-sedimentation tanks.
