Calculation of water flow

Dear All,
We are working in hilly areas of Pakistan for flood affected communities . Main sources are at height and we are using gravity flow water schemes and I need the support how to calculate the water quantity, discharge ate. e.g if a community consist of 100 families and total population is 700 numbers. Need any link, formula or calculation method.

If you are using the water for the residential and personal use only, then the water consumption for a single person a day can be based on the following standards. Home Uses Daily Water Use Per Person -- Gallons Percent Toilet ----------------------------------- 31 --- 45 Bathing/Personal Hygiene ----------------- 21 --- 30 Laundry/Dishes --------------------------- 14 --- 20 Drinking/Cooking -------------------------- 3 ---- 5 Total ------------------------------------ 70 -- 100 Now, as I am not sure about the pipe line designs and height drop etc. I am giving you the links where you can find out different equations for calculating the discharge rate, velocity of water etc. Hope this helps. http://www.calctool.org/CALC/eng/civil/hazen-williams_g http://www.agf.gov.bc.ca/resmgmt/publist/500Series/590304-5.pdf
