ACCIONA Sponsors the First IDA Forum of Women Leaders in the Water Industry

Within the framework of the International Desalination Association (IDA)World Congress, which will be held in Dubai from 20 to 24 October, 2019 ACCIONA is sponsoring the 1st IDA Panel discussion of Women Leaders in the Water Industry.

Some of the leading experts in the Advanced Water Treatment industry will take part on the panel. The panelists will discuss their experience and reflections on how they have built their careers, and offer their view of the future of the sector and how it can become an incubator to encourage more women to think about a career in the water industry.

Hon. Fatme Awale, M inister for Water for Mombasa County, Kenya; Mrs. Annelise Avril , CEO Suez Consulting; Dr. Miriam Balaban, Secretary-General, European Desalination Association; Mrs. Menatalla Sadek , CEO, Hassam Allam Utilities; and Eng. Zamzam Al Rakaf, Chief Engineer of Desalination Projects, Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait, will share this panel, which will be moderated by Mr. Borja Blanco, CEO, Aqua Advise.

The IDA aims to spotlight women of our industry and provide platforms for exchange to foster networking, debate ideas and to give women in the sector a higher profile. Another highlight of the IDA Congress is the “Leaders Summit”, in which prestigious figures from the water sector will analyze what public service companies are doing to take on current challenges, and how to guarantee sustainable water supplies in the context of population growth, urbanization, lower levels of public expenditure, industrialization and climate change.

José Diaz Canej a, CEO of ACCIONA, will lead and moderate the hi-level panel Public Utilities, More with Less, on Tuesday, the 22nd, 9:30-10:30. Distinguished Participants in this panel will discuss what public utilities are doing to proactively address these challenges and how they will secure sustainable supplies for safe water in the face global challenges. They will discuss best practices to create a roadmap to inspire those who will soon have to address these emerging challenges.

ACCIONA will have a stand in the exhibition area of the event as a meeting point for sector professionals.
