Batch Calibrations on VuSitu: an Interview with Product Owner Tom Koniuta
We sat down with Software Product Owner Tom Koniuta to talk about the new Batch Calibration Assistant on the VuSitu app and the software team’s commitment to improving the user experience.
In-Situ: Tom, what is the Batch Calibration Assistant?
Tom: The Batch Calibration Assistant is a feature that allows our app to recognize that multiple sensors of the same type are installed in the instrument, and walk you through the calibration for those sensors.
In-Situ: Why is that important?
Tom: Because calibration solutions cost money and calibrations take time, so, if you can calibrate multiple sensors at once, in the same solution, you’re going to save both.
In-Situ: Who will batch calibrations be most useful for?
Tom: Customers who manage fleets of multiparameter instruments, customers who rent out our instruments, and customers who are sensitive to the cost of calibration solution and want a bigger bang for the buck—especially on turbidity solution. This is going to be helpful for anyone who’s maintaining two or more multiparameter sondes and preparing them for use in the field.
In-Situ: So, which sensors can you batch calibrate?
Tom: This feature will work with turbidity, temperature/conductivity, pH/ORP and RDO sensors. One of the unique things we’ve added is that while you’re connected to your instrument and VuSitu, you can calibrate multiple sensors simultaneously, take those out, put new ones in and remain connected to the app. It’s just one more way we’re removing those annoying barriers to efficiency.
In-Situ: What were some of the other design priorities?
