Italian company develops system to save process water

Ecorecycling, a company located in Bolzano, has launched a solution to save up to 95% of water thanks to a technology that cleans and recovers "process water", i.e. the water used to wash and transfer fruit.
When sorting and washing fruit, water is one of the most important elements to consider, especially due to the increasing sensitivity towards the matter but also due to the lack of it in many production areas.
"Operators often do not realize that, in some fruit processing facilities (e.g. apple processing facilities), the quantity of water used every years easily exceeds 100,000 cubic meters."
In some areas (Germany, Austria, the Netherlands), the cost of public water reaches €4/m³, so it is easy to see how expensive the total cost can be, not to mention in the areas affected by a chronic lack of water resources.
"Our company develops a technology that cleans and recovers 'process' water making it possible to save up to 95% of water. 'Process' water is used to wash and transfer fruit and is subject to loads of undesirable substances which can affect the quality of the fruit itself."
