LC Packaging and Veolia Netherlands to Minimize Waste with Flexible Packaging

Packaging and Veolia signed yesterday a strategic partnership aimed at minimising residual waste streams related to flexible packaging on a global scale. The aim is to create a circular economy loop for flexible packaging optimising recovery and recycling after-use, and so significantly reduce the amount incinerated or landfilled.
In addition to packaging solutions for the agricultural sector (cardboard, jute bags, polypropylene bags, nets), in 2011 LC Packaging distributed over 11 million flexible "big bags" or flexible containers, a large amount of which is produced in Bangladesh on an SA 8000 and ISO 14001 certified site. This year the manufacturer has opened a second site to meet the growing demand for flexible packaging.
However, since China and Vietnam closed their doors to big bag recycling, facilities for recycling this type of packaging are insufficient to cover global needs.
Transform used packaging into secondary raw material
The goal of this partnership is to extend this closed loop to the activities of many customers, sectors, and partners in LC Packaging's flexible packaging supply chain. In this context, Veolia will be responsible for collecting and recycling the used packaging and transforming it into high-quality compounds.
LC Packaging and Veolia have already launched a pilot flexible packaging recycling phase among environmentally conscious customers.
