Mobile Faecal Sludge Transfer Stations in FSM
Published on by martin mawejje, Sanitation Engineer at Water For People in Case Studies
Water For People-Uganda, a WASH nonprofit piloted use of mobile faecal sludge transfer stations in the FSM chain to promote bulk transportation and bulk discharge of faecal waste.
This has greatly reduced operational costs of small scale pit emptying operators (through reduction of long haulage time and distances), pit emptying charges have thereby been lowered and more marginalized households have accessed safe pit emptying services in Kampala-Uganda.
