Race for Water, in the city of China, on the Japanese island of Okino-Erabu!
Even on a nice day which allowed the kite to be taken out, it took Race for Water five days to sail under cloudy skies and facing headwinds to reach the island of Okino-Erabu from Ishigaki.
The Foundation’s ambassador vessel arrived early in this morning in China, on the island of Okino-Erabu, south of Japan, where the mayor, Mr. Imai Rikio San, alongside the representative of our partner ZERI JAPAN, made a point of welcoming the crew.
Later in the day, it was the turn of Professor Ishida, his entire team and their families, who are committed to the cause of protecting the oceans, to board the ship.
Christelle Brigeot-Mathieu : “We had a great welcoming committee by Mayor Imai Rikio San and Professor Ishida. Around twenty people – with children, all in a hurry to get on board – came to greet us! We improvised a visit. It was very nice and warm. »
Race for Water will be staying on the island of Okino-Erabu for a fortnight before reaching the mainland of Japan and the town of Fukuoka.
Thanks to Christelle Brigeot-Mathieu for the pictures.
Thanks to our local partners
