Biobot Analytics, a startup in Somerville, Massachusets, that was spun out of MIT in 2017, is working to improve the process of testing municipal wastewater samples.

As described on the company's website, their technology generates drug consumption estimates that are naturally anonymized yielding unprecedented insight into the health of communities without collecting personally identifiable information.
They do it by sampling locations, smart sampling, data analysis, and providing public health insights.
