Israel's latest gift to India - the Gal-Mobile, a desalination and purification jeep- will be a boon to the Border Security Force (BSF) operating in Gujarat's Rann of Kutch.
The tough soldiers face the wrath of the nature - rising mercury, salty winds, dust storms, dry weather and snake bites.
Gal-Mobile can purify up to 20,000 litres of water a day. Sources said if the water is particularly muddy then only 4,000 litres of water can be purified in a day, Source: Gal Mobile
But it is clean drinking water in this dry arid land on one side and the salty sea water on other side that the BSF personnel manning the border posts want the most.
Sources said the specialised vehicle has landed in Gujarat and is in a state government facility. BSF sources said: "The vehicle will be handed over to BSF only on January 17."
The Gal-Mobile will be handed over to the BSF in Suigam, a village near the Indo-Pakistan border in Banaskantha district of Gujarat.
Gal-Mobile is an independent, integrated water purification vehicle, designed to produce high-quality drinking water. It can purify up to 20,000 litres of water a day. Sources said that if the water is particularly muddy then only 4,000 litres of water every day.
