Using Reed Plants to Purify Water Contaminated with Oil (Bauer Resources Video)

Can one use reed plants to purify water contaminated with oil? Bauer certainly can!
Together with BAUER Nimr LLC in Oman, BAUER Resources GmbH developed a solution – wherein reed plants separate oil from water – for the problem faced by the oil industry. In the midst of a desert landscape around 700 km from Muscat, Oman, a green oasis arose, creating a home for numerous species of animals and plants. The reed-bed treatment plant, which, after an expansion, today purifies up to 115,000 m³ of oil-contaminated water every day, is one of the largest natural water purification systems in the world. In October 2017, the BAUER Group was commissioned to increase the capacity by 60,000 m³ to 175,000 m³ per day. The company has already won several awards for this pioneering project.
