"Across a range of heavy industries, companies are under pressure to reduce the amount of water they consume. Concerns about global population growth, changing consumer and investor sentiment, and climate change are all contributing to the heightened focus on corporate sustainability reporting.
Because one of the primary reasons companies are paying more attention to environmental issues is to protect their reputation, transparent reporting of pertinent information can be almost as important as environmental performance itself. However, in certain sectors, such as energy and natural resources, operational need is starting to outweigh reputational concern as the chief reason to make reducing water use a priority."...
