I have prepared an article in Hindi available at

In this article I have described the "Disadvantages of application of excess water for irrigation of crops". The low irrigation efficiency in irrigation projects is also due to the misunderstanding of farmers that the crop yield increases in direct proportion to the water supplied to the crops. This is not true. The farmers are to be educated that after certain point, if more water is supplied to the crops, the crop yield decreases. I understand if the farmers are educated that application of excess water will reduce production of crops, they will use only prescribed quantity of water and will like to use soil moisture censors for application of water in their fields.
