BIO NOTE: DR. DEBASRI MUKHERJEE
Dr. Debasri Mukherjee is a Senior Research Officer in SIGMA Foundation a ‘Not for Profit Organization’ based in Kolkata, India. Before this She was a Research Officer (WQMS) from the day of inception of the Water and Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO), Public Health Engineering Department, Govt. of West Bengal for eight years. Prior to that she was with UNICEF Kolkata office for one year, The Energy Research Institute-Delhi (teri) for two years as a WASH Officer and IIT Delhi as a Project Officer for Fluoride Mitigation Programme for one year.
She did her PhD from Delhi School of Economics-Department of Geography and also having international exposure in the field of WQMS. Dr. Mukherjee did her internship in World Health Organization-the South East Asian Region Head Office in Delhi on Arsenic contamination. She specialized with water quality monitoring and surveillance, management of water supply schemes related issues of and in-depth knowledge of water safety and security plan implementation. She is well experienced for capacity building in the WASH sector including development of training module, GLP Model and IEC/SBCC module. She traveled extensively in many parts of the World and got exposure on critical challenges on water safety & security sector.
She was directly associated with Government publications on Water Quality Monitoring and Surveillance during her service period in PHED, West Bengal which are available in www.wbphed.gov.in. Dr. Debasri handled 23 projects on water and WASH sector for last one year under the technical umbrella of SIGMA Foundation which are also available in http://sigma.foundation/publication/ Dr. Debasri presented her research finding in IWA Edinburg Conference 2019. She also invited as a guest lecturer by Heidelberg University Germany in 2019.
