Drought has long been the quietest natural disaster against floods and today it is considered as one of the most challenging human problems.
Hur Al-Azim International Wetland, with an area of less than 29,000 hectares, is located in southwestern Iran. in winter it is home to migratory birds from Siberia and 20 species of fish and other creatures
Decreased recent rainfall, drought, Inter-basin water transfer to desert areas from the source of Karun and Dez rivers upstream of the region, Lack of management of water resources, early release of water behind dams in autumn and winter last year, etc. led to recent water shortages and drought in this wetland.
By studying water resources, climate and rainfall forecast charts, more than 20 short-term (until the fall) and long-term specialized and expert solutions were presented to the officials. The people of the region are opposed to the transfer of water between watersheds.
